Our Beliefs

Lake Region Mennonite Church Core Beliefs

  • We believe in Jesus Christ, the only son of God, who was born of a virgin, lived sinlessly on this earth, was crucified, died and raised again from the dead, and through his death is the only way to God the father for all human beings.  Jesus the son, God the father, and the Holy Spirit are the three parts of the Godhead, which form the trinity.  Through faith in Jesus Christ, we can be saved from our sins and follow him as an example and teacher.

    • John 1:1

    • John 3:16

    • Acts 2:33

    • I Corinthians 12:4-6

    • II Corinthians 13:14

  • The Bible is the inspired word of God and as such, is inerrant and meant to be studied, taught to our children, youth, body of believers and used as a guide for Christian living.

    • II Timothy 3:16

  • We believe it is a Christian’s duty to follow Jesus’ commands to “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”  By devoting ourselves to this teaching, we can experience a relationship with God, as well as demonstrate forgiveness, humility, encouragement, acceptance, love, mercy and the physical sharing of goods with one another.

    • Luke 10:27

  • We believe in a community of believers, who share a common confession of faith and baptism into a family of believers.  This community shares in worship, fellowship, serving others, communion, and is a global community, unified by a common Lord.

    • Matthew 3

    • Romans 10:9

    • Romans 14:11

  • We believe that all believers are commanded to be disciples of Christ and go into the world to make disciples, witnessing to the love of Christ and his death and resurrection for salvation to all who believe.

    • Mark 16:15

    • Revelations 5:9

God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.
— John 3:16
